Due by Day 7. Teacher Observation. For this assignment you will have two options.
Option 1: Contact your local school and arrange a time to observe an English Language Learner (ELL) teacher. You can observe an ELD or SDAIE lesson. Bring the SDAIE Strategies Checklist with you. As you observe, check off any strategies the teacher used. Then, in a three- to five-page paper, describe your observations and address the following tasks:
a. Outline what you learned from observing the teacher.
b. Describe how the teacher used specific strategies.
c. Express the students’ reaction to these strategies.
d. Summarize what you learned about interactive SDAIE teaching strategies. e. Explain how the teacher promoted listening and speaking skills.
Option 2: Watch the following videos:
1. A Successful Start with TRP – 6th Grade Spanish
2. First Grade Differentiation
3. KWL Discussion
Then, describe what you observed and address the following:
§ Outline what you learned from observing the teacher.
§ Describe how the teacher used specific strategies.
§ Express the students’ reaction to these strategies.
§ Summarize what you learned about interactive SDAIE teaching strategies.
§ Explain how the teacher promoted listening and speaking skills.
Your paper should be three to five pages in length, not including title and reference pages, and be in APA format. Cite a minimum of two scholarly sources.
